The success of every cadet depends on a strong partnership between the cadet, their family, and the unit staff. Parents and guardians play an important role in helping cadets meet attendance requirements, maintain uniforms, complete advancement requirements, and participate in training opportunities.
The information below is intended to help families understand what to expect from the Sea Cadet program and how they can support their cadet's success.

Our unit typically meets one weekend each month for scheduled drill weekends.
Per U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps policy, cadets are expected to complete at least 120 drill hours annually and may not miss more than 30 hours of required training.
Additional opportunities such as advanced trainings, community service events, color guard details, recruiting events, and special activities may be offered throughout the year.
Because our drill schedule follows the availability of the Naval Reserve Center Baltimore, drill weekends do not always occur on the same weekend each month. Families should review the unit calendar regularly for upcoming dates and events.

Parents and guardians are expected to:
• Ensure cadets arrive on time and are picked up promptly
• Support attendance at drills and required training events
• Assist with uniform maintenance and grooming standards
• Monitor communications from the unit
• Encourage cadets to complete advancement and training requirements
• Encourage healthy habits, including regular exercise, proper nutrition, hydration, and adequate sleep, to help cadets meet Physical Readiness Test (PRT) standards and participate successfully in training opportunities
The Sea Cadet program is most successful when cadets and families work together to support participation, personal growth, and leadership development.

Advanced trainings provide cadets with opportunities to explore specialized subjects and develop new skills in a structured environment.
Training opportunities vary from year to year and may include aviation, cybersecurity, seamanship, sailing, leadership, medical training, STEM programs, field operations, music, marksmanship, and many other disciplines.
Many trainings require cadets to meet specific eligibility requirements related to age, rank, physical fitness, swimming ability, time in service, or prerequisite training.

The safety and well-being of our cadets are our highest priorities.
Adult volunteers are required to complete screening, background checks, and training requirements established by the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps before serving with cadets.
Training activities are conducted in accordance with national policies and procedures designed to provide a safe, positive, and professional environment for all participants.

Families are encouraged to regularly monitor unit communications, including email announcements, calendars, Plans of the Day (PODs), Plans of the Month (POMs), and Quarterdeck notifications.
Maintaining current contact information helps ensure families receive important updates regarding drills, training opportunities, schedule changes, and special events.
